• Health check are separate from, but are used by records
• health checkers located globally, not only AWS!
• health checkers check every 30s
• check TCP, HTTP/HTTPS, HTTP/HTTPS with string matching
• 3 types:
  • endpoint
  • cloudwatch alarm
  • checks of checks
